Does this sounds familiar?

Someone with an expensive sport car
park his car indiscriminately outside a shopping complex
because he can, and above all because he is an Ugly Malaysian.

The moral of the story?
Don't park your car indiscriminately, because it's easier for someone to steal your car.

Well what is wrong with that message? Seems like these days we will no longer do the right thing because it's the right thing to do. In fact probably on the extreme end of population spectrum - we don't do anything at all, unless there is a side incentive to do it.

And the better and preferred way to discourage people from doing the wrong thing, is by giving them the "incentive" (alas in this case - reverse incentive) for not to do so. It's no longer about they MUST NOT be doing the wrong thing, because obviously it's wrong.

It's okie to park your car indiscriminately, despite it may caused disruption to the traffic flow and inconvenience to your fellow driver, who is unfortunate enough to share the same little spot on the surface of planet earth with you.

The preferred reasoning - these days it seems - for not to park your car indiscriminately, especially if it is a spanky expensive sport car, is because it is going to be stolen.

So now, everything just revolves around I, ME and MINE!

Are we turning into a more and more selfish animal then we are ought to be?

Sunset - Body of Water

I was starting a new programming project when I looked out the window and saw this. So as usual, it's always fun to leave aside important stuffs and do something completely useless instead :-P.

Came across this too during the dusk yesterday, but due to some reasons, I didn't manage to follow up and get some nice shots.

After contemplating for a while, for which I understand very well the scene like this will not last very long. The window of opportunity to snap this kind of scene is very short, thus the timing is very important. And location, location, location.

Obviously my apartment's windows is facing north east. I either scrap this chance again to drag my sorry ass out. Since it's fun to do useless thing, I decide to go up to the highest floor of the apartment and see if I can have any good view from the corridor. Unfortunately, the view is less than what expected.

The next best thing I could do is to go all the way out of the apartment to a nearby spot, which I noticed could be a good spot to snap the sunset yesterday.

True enough the sun is setting fast. All I manage to grab from the top of my bike is the picture with the sun setting over a distant hill.

If I was faster by maybe 2-3 minutes, probably I could have a better shot. The moment I stop my bike, don't even have time to properly set my camera. Just turned the knob to auto-everything. As it is with Nikon D40, the exposure is more on the overexposed side, and not up to my preference.

Ride a bit further on a recently completed tarmac, don't know what for. Could be a new development coming up soon.


The red sky over an artificial "hill", mmph.. well just a pile of soil at a construction site.

I like this best! Snap plenty of photos over this body of water. Low light, without VR lense and sans tripod, most of the shot are just craps.

Wasn't too happy with this shot either, could be better if there was a tripod.

Crescent moon with nice blue back drop. Yeah, the little dot is moon. How nice if I have a tele lense ;-)

From bad to worst

If monkey is all that we can afford, could we at least pick monkey that doesn't take us for a fool and rob us of our hard earned money? Is that too much to ask for?

There is just too many "incentives" for me to unlearn the habit of reading the local dailies. With all these incentives, it only take me less than 3 months to unlearn the break the habit take took me my whole teen-age to develop.

Even DISGUSTED is an understatement.

Playing with Soap

With a bar of soap in left hand, and in front of a book no one would be interested in reading but just looking at the pictures, what would a single male adolescent adult do to waste time for fun during this freaking long holiday?

Okie, before your mind go wild :-P

Yeah, this my wood carving tools. "Borrowed" this set from an elder cousin brother very long time ago. Well he wasn't interested in doing carving anyway... so I made it mine. The two chisels attached to nail head are made by yours truly many years ago.

In fact when I "re-discovered" this set during the last trip back to hometown for Chinese New Year and decided to bring it along here, I totally forgotten about these two extra chisels until I took them out before starting this project yesterday. And oh ya... the reason they are attached to nail head is because they are made from nails :-P

Got the ideal while I was doing a massive spring clean of my rat den apartment yesterday. House cleaning has always sort of giving some therapeutic effect to me. Well, at least when it is not a chore.

Half way through the cleaning, took some break and get a piece of mini soap bar collected from one of the hotel during one of trips and carved this simple motive.

This motive suppose to look something like the motive take from the 700 Victorian Ornamental Designs (F. Knight) in the diagram below.

Okie... I know it's not even close. Didn't I decided to stop giving excuses already? Well that was when I finally take the action to clean up the living room, kitchen and bathroom. Heh.. anyway... this is my first attempt in carving on soap, okie? :-P

Anyway, incidentally one of the blog which I often visit also has a post on soap carving. Well... what can I say? Co-incident?

Okie this is my second attempt today. Well.. not even close still... So what? :-P
